Your Guide to Bustling: Wedding Dress Shopping + Alterations Tips
The number one question we get asked during wedding dress shopping appointments is about how to bustle your dress after the ceremony! There are a few common ways that wedding dress bustles are done in alterations to keep the train out of your way for the reception. See our guide:
1.American Bustle/Over Bustle:
The most common bustle type we see is the American bustle. This is where the bottom of the dress is bustled to the back of the dress. This is a typically fairly easy alteration and gives a lot of different options for the bride depending on the length of the dress!
2. The Ballroom Bustle:
The ballroom bustle is a popular option to add elegance and keep the look of the dress by essentially just hiding the train by folding it underneath and creating attachment points inside the train of the dress.
3. The French Bustle/Under Bustle
This is another very popular option, yet possibly the most difficult option. This is essentially the opposite of the American bustle, where the train folds under and is then attached to the back of the dress. It creates a stunning look, but again can be very difficult when trying to bustle it the day of!
